Is it true that if most of your family has diabetes you could too?

The familial inheritence of Diabetes is more in Type 1 DM and less in Diabetes Type 2. In type 2, other environmental factors like sedantary lifestyle, weight, smoking etc also play a role.
In type 1 the inheritance differs from one parent to other, also if both the parents are diabetics the risk is more.
Hence you have to look at the modifiable risk factors and try to correct them.
