I Am Having Variable Pulse Rate. Do I Need A Surgery ?

Hi, My brotherinlaw has a variable pulse rate between 70 and 155 while sitting. One second it s down, five seconds later it s up over 150. He is just comming off a mitral valve repair job, but this problem existed even before that. He was just taken to the hospital again this morning. What could be causing this?????????

Thanks for he query
Vvular heart defects are known to cause atrial fib, he has to be monitored for it whith ECG and put on calcium channel blockers. It is a definite cause for concern. I am sure he will be on blood thinning medicines Sonia don't need to educate you about that
