Hypoglycemia, Insulin Resistance Diagnosed. On Metformin. Blood Sugar Tested. What Does The Result Indicate?

Hi, I've been diagnosed with hypoglycemia and insulin resistance. I'm 34, my height is 1,70cm and weights is 57kg. I've been on a special diet for 10 days and take 500mg metformin twice a day.. Could you take a look at my results.. Are they concerningly bad? ?s 40 for fasting insulin terrible? EN1730-Insulin (fast ) 40,80 ( 2.6 - 24.9 ) uIU/ml EN5600-Insülin (1. hour ) 38,51 ( 29 - 88 ) uIU/ml EN5601-Insülin (2. hour ) 29,20 ( 22 - 79 ) uIU/ml EN5602-Insülin (3. hour ) 1,06 ( 4 - 62 ) uIU/ml ST1503-......Glucose fast 92 ( 70 - 100 ) mg/dl ST1505-.....Glucose 60. dk 96 ( . - . ) mg/dl ST1506-.....Glucose 120. dk 100 ( . - . ) mg/dl ST1507-......Glucose 180. dk 57

Hi,

Your blood test results are not that bad. The only significant abnormal result here is, as you noted, fasting insulin level. I would not worry about this at this time and here is why.

Metformin, among other of its features and actions, increases sensitivity of insulin receptors to unsulin (i.e. decreases insulin resistance) and it requires some time until your body "realizes" that the receptors are now sensitive. So, if you have started metformin and other components of your treatment (including diet) recently, your body may still require some time until it understands that the receptors are now sensitive to insulin.

So, my advice is to continue the treatment for some time and repeat the test. I do not see any reason for worrying at this time.
