Hi I got in a fight last night and got hit in the eye went to DA hospital and my eye lid suddenly swelled up last night .it has not yet turned blue,black, or purple but swelling has not went down yet .the hospital say its a lot of air in the eye lid and not sure where it can be coming from,is this a serious matter?I can see and move eyeball,its just swollen and eyelid has not yet went down .the Dr put me on antibiotics and Tylenol 3.How long will it take to recover and where is the air coming from?

These symptoms indicate ecchymosis of the eyelids because of collection of blood in the layers of skin of the eyelids. If there is no injury to the eye then no need to be worried and this condition will resolve in 1-2 weeks slowly as the blood gets absorbed. This requires treatment by the use of cold compression and anti-inflammatory drugs.
