How To Treat Severe Fatigue While Treating Chronic Cough In A Child?
My son had a bad cough and runny note for 2 weeks then He had a bug on Wednesday at threw up for about 12 hours. He still seems very tired and doesn t really have an appetite. He is 3. Never had a fever and is sleeping a ton.. and is finally rehydrating a little. Just wondering if I should take him in or if it is normal to be so tired after all this sickness.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe fatigue while having chronic cough in a child which is due to chronic lung infection or bronchitis which can cause chronic cough. If it is not getting better with antibiotics then the symptoms could be due to viral infection or allergic reaction. The symptoms can also occur due to acid reflux. I would suggest you to visit pulmonologist once and get it examined. You should go for pulmonary function tests as well to check exact level of infection. You need inhaled bronchodilators antiviral like acyclovir and antihistamine drug. You should get x-ray chest done as well. You should take cough expectorants as well. You should use mist humidifiers in room. Take half spoon of honey twice a day .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
