How To Treat Penile Edema?

Hi, I am post op day 4 from open bilateral inguinal hernia repairs with mesh. I have developed an area of penile edema and am interested in knowing I this is normal, and is there anything that I can do to releave this? I also. Have some scrotal edema as well. The penile edema doesn't go all the way around, isn't painful, doesn't affect urination.

Hello
Thanks for query.

It is not uncommon to get penile and scrotal edema after surgery of inguinal hernia .This is due to spread of inflammatory fluid along the facial plane of Carpa's fascia.

Normally it fades away gradually over a period of 2 weeks .

Take antibiotics like Augmentin along with anti inflammatory medicine Diclofenac and Serropeptidase twice daily.

There is nothing to be worried about .
