How To Treat Head Concussions?

hi my names Tevin Roth im 17 years old 165lb. 5'10" no medical history besides an unreported concussion in 2008.i am a student at HP baldwin highschool on Maui, HI..about a month and a half ago i got a concussion during football practice. the severeity of the concussion was very mild so to speak. i didnt go unconscious, just felt fuzzy and couldnt concentrate. still knew where i was, still remember everything just felt really "spacey". i seen a doctor the day after and he told me everything seemed fine just rest for about 2 weeks and then continue on my return back to play agenda. well to be completely honest i didnt exactly rest like i shouldve and everytime id feel normal just the slightest, id start my back to play agenda and sure enough my symptoms came back, like i was rushing it..this happend to me twice id feel better then start then get symptoms..so i thaught id just rest longer..its been almost two months since the start and somedays id feel fine, then out of the blue id get symptoms, no headaches just spacey and lost..im pretty sure its not anything too serious but i just want some reassurance, should i just completely rest till im back to the norm?will i ever feel normal? im a bit worried about my situation, any feedback would be appreciated.

I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

It is not uncommon for symptoms of concussion to persist for several weeks, at times even several months. However they eventually improve and you should get back to normal. In many cases there is also the psychological factor at play, the anxiety provoked by the symptoms contributes in perpetuating them.
Regarding treatment I am afraid the only treatment is rest. By that I mean physical but also psychological rest, avoid reading or staying in front of a screen for too long, try to eat and sleep according to regular schedules etc.
So while I can reassure you that you will get better, you should try to rest and relax as much as possible in order to achieve that.
