How To Treat Filiform Papillae ?

Few days ago, my filiform papillae became quite long. My mouth was feeling dry for the past 2 weeks as well. I started brushing my teeth twice a day, drink a lot of water and started eating crunchy food. The filiform papillae close to the tip of the tongue went back to normal quite fast, the others didn't. However, today the papillae close to the tip are elongated again. Why the hairy tongue doesn't go away?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain enlargement of filiform papillae can occur most commonly due to reduced intake of hard foods as hard foods can lead to frictional shedding of the papillae which should normally shed off every 2 weeks..
You should keep eating hard foods as well as use a tongue scraper to clean your tongue regularly..
You can gargle with a solution of hydrogen peroxide and water..
Scrape your tongue gently with a soft toothbrush by dipping it in a solution of hydrogen peroxide and water..
Drink plenty of water and maintain a good hygiene..
You can chew sugar free chewing gum as it will help in stimulating saliva flow and prevent dryness..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
