How To Treat Elevated BP?

My husband has taken I/2 of an 80mg tablet of Diovan daily for several yrs. That has wk d wonderfully; however, today he felt slightly lightheaded & took his pressure after church. It s read 180/85 for the past 1-2 hrs. He just took the other 1/2 tablet. How long before he should see results????? Cynthia M

I read your query and understand your concern
Unfortunately even on treatment BP can change
You have no reason to worry too much
You have well of giving an extradose of valsartan
BP should be normal again after 1-2 hours
You should check his blood pressure for some days
If it still persist more than 140 mmHg the dose of valsartan (diovan) should be increased to one tablet each day
