How To Treat Ear Infection?

About a week ago, I lost hearing in my right ear. I immediately went to an ENT. The doctor said that I have an inner ear infection and prescribed me Prednisone for two weeks. I m on my 6 day of medication and the vertigo has improved but my hearing is still lost. How long would you suggest until I possibly get my hearing back? I know the effects of medication are different in everyone. Is there anything else I can try to do to relieve the pressure and restore my hearing back such as nasal sprays etc?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of lost hearing in the right ear and the consultation of an ENT says this to be an infection of the middle ear cavity for which you have been prescribed Prednisolone. After 6 days your vertigo has reduced by the hearing is still reduced.
I would suggest you the following:
Consult your ENT again to see the possibility of incision to evacuate the secretions of the middle ear cavity to get hearing to normal as soon as possible.
Another choice is to add medicines like an antibiotic, oral decongestants and additional anti-inflammatory.
Not to blow the nose or try to open the ear like this as this may increase the problem.
I am sure this will help you as this all my patients.
