How To Treat Burning Back Pain Caused By Trauma?

I slipped on my wooden front steps in the rain and hit my lower back just above my sacrum and now it hurts to bend over but most of all it feels like my back in on fire where I hit. It is a radiating heat across where I fell on it. I am 5'1 and 155lbs.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.

From description it seems to be soft tissue injury .
You need an x-ray to rule out any bony injury.
I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.Beside icing , you can take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation.
Avoid forward bending and lifting weight and rest well.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
