How To Treat Aggressive Breast Cancer?

I have had breast cancer three times. First time I had a lumpectomy with chemo and radiation. My cancer had spread within my but not in nodes or outside tissue. That was in1994. In 2010 the cancer came back in my right breast. No metasticis but received radiation. The third time it reoccurred was in 2013 with a double mastectomy. No nodes involved or treatments. I don t understand why this cancer has been in both breasts with a double mastectomy. The left breast has been involved twice and actually had to be operated twice when I had my double mastectomy because the margins were not clear. Sometimes I feel like a walking time bomb! Very blessed to be here but a little confused! Thanks for your help--Teresa

Hello Teresa
You are a brave cancer fighter and survivor. however Its Very sad thing that you are getting recurrences again and again which can happen in case of aggressive or hereditary cancers. From your treatment history you are telling that bilateral breast cancer at different time period. Its not clear that whether opposite side breast cancer was confirmed post mastectomy. Check your post operative report if that so you should have been given again a course of chemotherapy to prevent recurrence. Bilateral breast cancer can be hereditary. so i also want to know whether you had mother side any body suffering from same disease. cancer survivors should be on regular followup with their treating physician. you should undergo screening for your gonadal organs also like uterus, cervix and ovaries on followup. you can write to me for further queries. thank you
