I live in LV for a few months ea. yr. I am currently taking Cipro for what I believe to be a prostate infection. I am 65 and have recurrent infections like this for many years. Have taken Cipro for 5 days yet have had no relief so far. Quite uncomfortable. Also am having a flare up with external and internal hemmorhoids. Suggestions?
Hello Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you are suspecting yourself to have Prostatitis and taking antibiotics with no relief of symptoms.
Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following tests done to confirm the diagnosis. 1) Routine urine test 2) Ultrasound scanning of the abdomen and trans rectal ultrasound scanning (TRUS). 3) Culture and sensitivity of urethral discharge obtained by prostatic massage.
Please note Prostaitis takes long time to get cured hence one needs to take appropriate antibiotic as per culture report for a long time,(6-8 weeks)
