I have swollen ankles and feet. I am taken naporsen, oxycontin, and cyclobenzaprine due to a motorcycle accident injury. I broke my pevis in 2 places and L4 and L5 in my back. My feet and ankles just started swelling on July 3. The accident happened on June 10. Ant suggestions on how to releve the swelling.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The swelling feet and ankles indicate fluid retention from low venous return due to various reasons.
- Prolong bed ridden position
- Side effect of drugs as analgesic and others
- Raised creatinine due to various reasons

Primary relieving guidelines:
- Feet elevation over 3 pillows
- Local application of ice
- Discuss changes in the medicines currently consumed
- Keep a check on urine output level

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
