Hi, I am going on a vacation and want to delay my period starting 27 June 13.. So my gynac has advised me to take regestrone 5 mg for ten days which I started on 21st June 13. I wanted to inquire will I get pregnant if I have unprotected sex during this time? I am 30 years of age and don t have any children as yet.

Hello, I would be happy to help you with your question.

The issue regarding getting pregnant is going to be difficult to say with certainty because it will depend on where you are in your cycle when you take the medication. If you are beyond ovulation (which usually occurs 2 weeks after the start of your last cycle) then pregnancy is unlikely and the medication will only delay your period. If you are before or just about to ovulate, the medication will delay when ovulation occurs, which might occur during your vacation. In any case, the chance of pregnancy is decreased but not zero.

I hope that this helps and good luck!
