Hi, welcome to our site. I am Dr Saumya Mittal, MD.
Read your query. That is a very significant question and i appreciate your problem. I will try my best to answer your query
I think from the query that you basically need a medicine for constant
cough. Now I am not sure from the query if the doctor found you to have any chest condition or not, or whether a cause for your cough was found.
However I think the excess acid production that may have resulted in your case may have been a definite trigger for your cough.
The excess acid produced may flow up to your throat and cause irritation of the throat causing constant cough.
If this is indeed the case, you can ask your doctor for a prescription of only
proton pump inhibitor. I don't think he will have trouble in doing so. And if indeed the cough is due to
GERD, it will reduce with the medicine
I hope this helps you. Inform the reports mentioned above/if any other so I can be of help further.
I have given you the answer to the maximum considering the information provided. The results of the tests could further enhance my answer to you.
