How To Get Rid Of Lightheadedness After Having Appendectomy?

I had appendectomy surgery tow weeks ago. About a week after surgery I came home and developed a fever. Went back to the hospital and CT showed I had a abcest. A drain was placed for three days then taken out. I am now home healing and am feeling better, however, I still feel light headed when I sit/stand. How can I get rid of this? Tony

Hi,

I cannot say in your particular case, but generally, the first place to start is distinguishing between a blood pressure issue--"I still feel light headed when I sit / stand" from a balance issue ("room spinning"). Ok, pressure, this is a loss of the reflex for standing regulating bp. This occurs when one is in bed a long time. Adequate fluid intake, not being on medications that can affect it (including even minor amounts of alcohol).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
