How To Get Rid Of Bad Odor Cause By Keeping A Tampon Overnight?

I left a tampon in overnight and I took it out to have intercourse with my partner and it had a foul smell. This was a few days ago and I have been trying to let my vagina clean itself out but the odor is still there. What are suggestions on getting rid of the odor safely so I can have intercourse with my partner without having an odor. I do not have any other symptoms or anything to do with TSS, I just want the odor gone.

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Tampon should be changed after 6 to 8 hours of insertion.
Retained tampons can lead to infection, foul smell etc.
Better to get examined once to find out any possible infection.
If there is presence of infection, intake of antibiotics can treat the infection and clear the smell.
If there is no evidence of infection, general measures like:
-Taking bath twice daily, changing the inner wear twice daily
-Cleaning the private parts with specified solutions like v wash
-Keeping the area clean and dry etc
can help in reducing the foul smell.
If your doctor recommends once check for blood sugar levels.
Take care.
