Been drinking beer and vodka for around 2 years everyday and got physically addicted. Been 100% off for 1 week now with no help from anyone. The problem is I fell drunk, UN-focused, false sense of reality and such. Will this go away with time or am I stuck like this from alcohol? I m 26 years old, male.
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. Continuous use of alcohol (beer and vodka) has resulted in alcohol dependence and you are now off alcohol since a week. Fortunately you have passed acute severe withdrawal phase in a week and now the symptoms like poor focus, false sense of reality etc are probably due to long term withdrawal symptoms of alcohol. If you have access to a psychiatrist or a doctor the visit for evaluation. Medicines like low dose benzodiazepines on SOS basis can help to reduce these symptoms. Try not to use medicines regularly because these medicines also have abuse potential. If you can tolerate these symptoms for some more days then these symptoms would reduce by own. Avoid driving for some days and try to remain calm. Take good nutrition and plenty of fluids to beat these symptoms.
Thanks, I hope this helps you. Take care
