I am 50 years old trying to wait on menopause but it hasn't happened. I don't want anymore kids and have a hystoscopic surgery done about 5 months but now my cycle have started back. So what will be the next best thing to do to stop the bleeding 100%
Hello and welcome to HCM, I am Dr Nilajkumar a consultant gynecologist and I will be helping you in your queries.
I understand your concern. Menopause is a natural phenomenon and you have already experienced that small procedures fail.
So the only way to stop periods completely is by a hysterectomy. Other procedures are endometrial ablation where the endometrium is destroyed. But it has a high failure rate. Use of drugs like Gn Rh analogues have a high rate of side effects and are not advised for long term.
So discuss this with your gynecologist. The ovaries can be preserved so that the menopausal symptoms like hot flashes and osteoporosis will not develop.
Hope this was helpful. Feel free to ask any further queries and I will be happy to help. Thanks for using HCM. Have a good day. Dr Nilajkumar Bagde Consultant Obstetrics and Gynecology
