How To Cure Floaters In The Eyes?

My 18 year old daughter has suddenly been experiencing floaters in both eyes. Her optometrist says there is no break down of the vitreous gel and not retinal damage. She was in a bad car accident 8 months ago. What do you think the cause is and what should we do?

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
It seems from the history that your daughter is having floaters in the eye. Floaters are because of opacities in the vitreous which occur because of degenerations of the vitreous. Vitreous by themselves are not harmful and treatment may not be required. However presence of floaters require dilated fundus examination to rule out vitreoretinal traction as occurring in peripheral retinal degenerations, retinal tear...
Hence I advice you to consult ophthalmologist for dilated fundus examination.

Thank you
