How To Cure Ear Pain With Cold And Cough?
Hi, I have recently had a cold and have ended up with an ear infection, i am now taking amoxycillin however I was wondering if i could still take my cold and flu tablets as they are a decongestant and feel that they may not only help my blocked nose but possibly my ear as well. I have taken one tablet of the amozycillin as recommended and due to take another however, the stuffiness and pain in my ear has not stopped since last night even after taking the antibiotics. What is the best thing to do, take the cold and flu tablets(which are non drowsy however do have codine in them) and the antibiotics or just take the antibiotics?

Blocked ears are usually associated with a sore throat in some patients it is because in acute infections mucosal inflammation is seen around Eustachian tube (connects ears and throat and opens behind the nose). As you started on antibiotics prescribed by your doctor there is a less chance of increasing infection in the ear. I would suggest oxymetazoline nose drops and tablet paracetamol (if not allergic or contraindicated) which is available on prescription only and steam inhalation along with it. I would recommend you to see your ENT specialist again and get an examination done and medicines.
