I have been diagnosed with contact dermititis of both hands. I have dealth with this for almost a year. I have been treated with the usual steroidal creams and oitments and anti-histamines with no clear results by my primary physician, dermatlogist and even an infectious disease specialist. What else can I do?
Hello, Welcome to healthcare magic. I understand from your history that you have contact dermatitis of your hands. You have not mentioned the cause for contact dermatitis. The most common causes for contact dermatitis of the hands are detergents, gloves, weeds like parthenium, nickel, cement and plants. It is important that you avoid the cause / triggers in order to prevent recurrences. Otherwise, the lesions will recur every time you are in contact with the triggering agent. You could use steroid cream like fluticosone during flares. Always use a good moisturizer or barrier creams like petroleum jelly. If you are suspecting detergent allergy, use gloves before washing. Hope this helps you. Take care.
