Hello,

You are suffering from chronic painful rash on nostril. It begun with scabbing. The cause of painful rash are nasal infection, vasculitis, trauma, HIV, environmental dryness, sinusitis, nasal cancer, etc. Your symptoms can be due to adverse effects of steroids that you have been taking. Avoid picking the nose, plucking nose hair, or blowing the nose excessively as it can expose the body to the bacteria that causes nasal vestibulitis.

Remove any ornaments you are wearing as nose piercings. It can also trigger your symptoms. Applying petroleum jelly to prevent drying of nasal mucosa. Use nasal saline sprays to keep the nasal passages from drying out. You can also apply Neosporin cream to fight infection and reduce pain. Leave the scabs alone, do not pick them.

If resistant you can apply topical antibacterial and anesthetic ointments and creams, which can speed up healing, prevent infection. Antivirals can be prescribed orally for conditions like herpes and HIV. You can also apply antiviral cream on the area affected to get rid of infection. To reduce pain take pain relieving medications like Naproxen or Combiflam, one SOS when required.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
