Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I am wondering how safe and effective the HCG diet (with drops, not the injection) is? Also how safe is it to take with Celexa and Prilosec (also with Klonopin as needed)? I know its just a hormone basically, but just wondering what other facts are out there.
Hello - I can address the safety of the HCG diet. First of all, the injections are combined with a diet strictly limiting calories down so low that many who follow this diet are at risk of formation of gallstones, irregular heart beats and an imbalance of electrolytes. This type of diet will cause you to lose wt - water weight and body wt from severe restriction of calories. However, extensive testing has shown HCG, the hormone from pregnant women, to have no effect on weight loss. Side-effects of the HCG diet include fatigue, irritability, restlessness, depression, fluid buid up and blood clots. I defer the question on medications to one of my physician colleagues and end with a cautionary note on your diet of choice - I don't recommends it and I don't feel it is safe. To your health . . .
