How Is Down S Syndrome Diagnosed?

I want to ask questions about Down s Syndrome Screening ,what Biomarker are used for ? I m confused Some research says Total hCG or free β-hCG and some just says free β-hCG, are they the same? What is the difference between HCG 、 free beta HCG 、Total hCG and Total beta HCG? thank you.

Hi,

For screening down's syndrome, we test for free Beta HCG, unconjugated estriol and total inhibin. All of these together is known as the quad screen.
