Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Diphenhydramine is an anti-histamine with a side effect of drowsiness. For a runny nose not caused by allergies, and caused by an uncomplicated cold nasal saline can be used with gentle wiping. Teaching your daughter how to blow her nose after using the saline will help keep the nasal passages clean.
The dose of the diphenhydramine depends on her weight and without that information, the dose can not be determined. I would advice taking the bottle to your local pharmacist or calling your pediatrician's office for that information.
