HI, I TOOK MIFEGST KIT 0N 2ND JAN.......BLEEDING STARTED ON 3RD NIGHT....THERE WAS PROFUSE BLEEDING IN WHOLE NIGHT AND MASS CAME OUT.....I WANT KNOW THAT HOW MUCH AMOUNT OF BLEEDING SHOULD BE THERE AND FOR HOW MANY DAYS.........WAT IS POSSIBILITY OF RETAINED ZYGOT?

Hi
Since you had profuse bleeding and saw the mass coming out in all probability the abortion process is complete. If you still have heavy bleeding, i.e. soaking more than two pads /hour for more than two hours you should see your doctor.
Usually after a short duration of heavy bleeding the bleeding reduces. mild bleeding may last for up to two weeks. If you are still bleeding after two weeks, you must see your doctor and get an ultrasound done to make sure that the abortion process is complete.
Medical abortion is about 95% effective. So the possibility of retained zygote is 5%.
From your notes my opinion is that in all probability you have had complete abortion.

Hello dear,I understand your concern.In my opinion the bleeding after mifegest kit intake is variable in different people.The bleeding varies from normal period bleeding or 1 week to 2 weeks.It is advisable to get an ultrasound done on 15 th day after taking mifegest kit to rule out any retained products.The retained products might present with heavy or irregular or prolonged bleeding.Always take the medicine under doctors supervision to avoid complications like heavy bleeding ,incomplete abortion.
