How Long Will Ecstasy Side Effects Last?

Last night I made the stupid decision to take ecstasy. It was my first time and did not like it at all. When I got home around 5am I was still in the high and then it eventually went away but couldn't sleep at all and had major anxiety which it also went away. Now it's been 24 hours since I took it and I still have trouble sleeping. I dont feel tired or with the need of sleep. This is so weird since I love sleeping and had never had a problem with it. Now my question is how long is this going to last? Is it going to be permanent? I'm starting to really get worried.

The drug gets out of the system quickly. Furthermore, the acute effect of having this brain stimulant leave is generally feeling tired and sleepy. SO, in general the stimulant effects of MDMA is under one day. There can be anxiety about the whole issue that is NOT related directly to the drug and can last a bit even if nothing is broken and the drug is gone. Serious brain toxicity from one use is not likely. The acute fatal effects of the drug occur (rarelY) from overheating during the acute intoxication (within the first hour or so of use), and require more than just the drug (being in the heat, overexercising, not drinking enough water, and usually something more than even this).
