How Long Should We Wait Before Going To ER After Vomiting Every Hour?
My husband started feeling achy and nausea last night and by 12pm he is vomitting every few hours. Today he was in bed all day and doesn't have any strenghth, I gave him gatorade and smart water. he has only drank about 8 to 10 ounces all day if that. I asked if he wanted to go to emergency to get hydrated by IV. He states he couldnt even make it there if he tried. How long is it safe to wait to see if he turns around for the better? Symptoms appear to be flu like
The symptoms your husband is having are related to possible flu with gastrointestinal illness (viral gastroenteritis).
If he is not able to drink (water, juice, oral rehydration salt juice) for the next couple of days, then, you can call emergency and get your husband checked by a doctor in ER and get i.v. fluids.
Meanwhile, encourage him to take lots of fluids and : - oral rehydration salt - probiotics
you can find them at over the counter.
Wish fast recovery! Dr.Albana
