How Long Should Chemo And Steroids Be Continued For Multiple Myloma While Proteins Are Lowering?

My friend was diagnosed with multiple myloma. She is going through chemo and steroids and other drugs. Her physician at the hospital is pleased that her protein is coming down. Will she still have to go for stem cell treatment at the hospital and will she have to have more steroids and higher dose of chemo

Hello,

I understand your concern regarding your friend. First of all, the treatment changes depend on patient's current condition. Her doctor must be monitoring her condition closely with all needed blood tests after required duration.

The stem cell treatment is considered by doctors as per patient's current condition and response to the treatment. So the doctor will be able to comment on it well as he is aware of her medical history and current health condition. Also the treatment plan regarding steroids and another chemo is considered after necessary imaging tests and overall treatment response till day.
