How Long Should Gabapentin Be Taken?

Hi I just got out of a treatment center for alcohol addiction, was given a medical discharge after only a week of treatment. I was given Gabapentin 300mg cap and am not sure what it is treating, and if I should stop taking it now. I am assuming it is for anxiety and was taking it twice a day. Thank-you, Candace R
