How Long It Takes To Heal The Wound Caused By Colostomy Bag Surgery?

my mom got a colostomy bag surgery in feb 2013 and the wound for her surgery is not healed, in fact doctor sent her home for me to clean every day. The wound is about 8in long and 2in deep, is that normal for her to still have the wound so open or should she in the hospital?

Hi,

No really, it won't take all this time to heal. My advice to you that you may take a culture from the wound to know if there is an infection or not.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Salah Saad Shoman, Internal Medicine Specialist
