Typhoid take about a few weeks to get cured if treated properly by antibiotics for which typhoid bacteria are sensitive . Typhoid affects the last part of the small intestine and hence is advise soft and bland diet as you are doing absolutely right. Since it is already a month your husband can restart the normal diet gradually over one to three more weeks . There is no need to repeat the test as it will usually come positive in spite of being cured. The tests to be done is culture and sensitivity of the blood if there is repeat fever or pain in abdomen or any other symptoms that develop, otherwise no tests are necessary. Give boiled and cooled water and homemade fresh foods.
