my sister lalithya aged 24 years diagnosis. Corpus callosal lesion operation: right parietal parasagittal craniotomy (middle 1/3) and excision of tumor operation date: 4/2/2011 now she is in icu with ventilator for past 15 days. Whea ther anything is possible

Usually, operations of the corpus callosum are very tricky and have a relatively higher complication rate than most other common brain surgeries. Swelling in the brain after the surgery is the most common complication which is a normal thing after any brain surgery but sometimes this swelling can be significant and cause the patient to go into a coma.
Other possibilities that may explain this coma include a brain infarct due to decreased blood supply to an area of the brain or hypoxic injury to brain. In any of these situations, it takes a long time for the patient to recover from the coma but ventilatory support itself is associated with many complications.
