How Long Does Oxycontin Remain In The System?

I have taken the 40mg tablet of oxycontin today not realizing that it will break a contract I have made with a pain clinic. How many days will this drug stay in my system so as I won t ever have to worry about passing my drug screen test again. Not being familiar with these new guidelines I did injest an old prescription I had had previous . How long will it take for me to have a negative urine results ?

Oxycontin is composed of 'Oxycodone', a semisynthetic opioid anagesic, which is available alone or in combination with mild analgesics.
After a dose of conventional oral oxycodone, the onset of action is 10–30 minutes. The peak plasma levels of the drug is attained by 30–60 minutes. Its plasma half life 4.5 hour. Steady-state plasma concentrations of oxycodone are achieved within 24-36 hours of initiation of dosing.
The metabolism of oxycodone in humans is extensive by multiple metabolic pathways. Oxycodone and its metabolites are excreted primarily via the kidney.
