How Is Surgery For Loose Sclera Performed?

Ophthalmologist told me I have "loose sclera" and that my vision can be stabilized and improved if I have the sclera tightened. I went in to the doctor because of symptoms of "dry eye" but was told the problems were likely caused by the loose sclera rather than insufficient tears. How is this surgery done and is it dangerous?

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
Do you have any other problems like joint pains?skin problems?blurred vision?
The sclera normally "thins" in certain auto-immune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE).This can cause dry eyes, joint pains and skin lesions.
"Loosening" of cornea may occur without any cause and will be accompanied by blurred vision and requires further investigations and surgeries like collagen cross linking/keratoplasty.Get well soon.
