Hello and thank you for the question!

Women who are pregnant commonly describe not being able to 'catch' their breath. This is called dyspnea of pregnancy. It is very common and can start very early in the pregnancy. It is believed to be a hormonal effect. I like to think of it as the pregnancy telling you to take a deep breath more often. This is differentiated from symptoms like you are describing: short term dizziness, blocked upper airway, sleeping problems and feeling out of breath. This very well might be as simple as severe anemia of pregnancy (low blood counts) or something more serious, like an upper airway infection. You definitely need to talk to your OB Provider.

I hope that this helps and good luck.
