How Important Is Weight Loss To Reduce High Blood Pressure While Taking Diovan And Atenolol?

I really need to know what I need to do to lose 40 lbs. This is a health question not a cosmetic one. My blood pressure is out of sight. I am taking Diovan 320mg and atenonal 100mg. , yet my BP is normally in the range of 186/90 and higher. I cannot afford to do a weight loss program. I have done three already with not even a 5lb. weight loss. I went to LA weight loss, I have done Weight Watchers on line and I have gone thru Weight Loss Solutions and none were able to help me. Before gaining this excess weight I never had blood pressure issues. I feel like if I could just lose this weight my blood pressure would go down. I have had 3 major back surgeries so any extreme exercise is out of the question. I cannot spend 15 min. in Walmart without having extreme pain. Please help.

Hi, thank you for asking healthcare Magic.
I have gone through your query and understood your concerns.
Treatment of high BP involves lifestyle modifications and drugs. Concerning lifestyle modifications, things like reduction of salt intake, avoidance of smoking and alcohol would also be of help. If you are overweight or obese, then you need to lose weight. You might need drugs that would help burn the fat in your body if you cannot undergo strenuous physical activity. Walking for 30 minutes to 1 hour per day and at least three times a week will be okay for you. If you are observing these lifestyle changes and taking your BP medications, your BP will go down and if it does not go down, then you might need to change the drugs. I would suggest you see a family doctor or cardiologist for assessment and prescription.

I hope that answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. We will be delighted to answer more questions from you.
I wish you good health
