How Do You Increase Your Calcium Levels If The Prolia Is Making It Low?

My husband is taking Prolia and his calcium level is low, which I just saw that is a side effect of Prolia. He was also told by his doctor that you can t get the shot if your calcium is low. So how do you elevate your calcium level if the Prolia is making it low?

Hi,

Yes, Prolia can cause low serum calcium because it's takes calcium from blood to bones. Generally, if calcium is significantly low, we don't give this drug and wait for calcium. To become normal. This can be achieved by taking oral calcium and Vitamin D.

The calcium can be normalized with this and then the drug can be used. So you should give him oral calcium like a put and Vitamin D daily and see if normal continue with the drug. Still low then we should see other caused of low calcium.

Hope I have answered your query.
