Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

White coat hypertension can be very distressing to patients especially if the office blood pressure measurements are important as part of their work physical and in other patients as well because the doctor may unnecessarily increase the dose of the blood pressure medications and cause the patient to have very low blood pressure levels at home.
To avoid this it is important to have a Holter monitor of the blood pressure. The doctor can put it on your arm and you keep it on for a day or so and it measures your blood pressure in regular intervals and records it. It can also record your pulse and give an average of them.
If the average is less than 140/90 mmHg then your doctor will know for sure it is white coat hypertension.
If you would like to be calm before going to doctor's office you can take a propanolol 40-80 mg an hour before the consultation. This will keep in control the heart rate and might help to keep the blood pressure in normal values.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards,
Antoneta Zotaj, MD
