How Can Smelly Vaginal Discharge Be Treated?

Please have given birth about 4months ago. And noticed some smelly discharge. I treated it with ampicllin Capsules n it went away. I reported to the hospital and was asked to do scan and laboratory. I went for Scan First but all Was well nothing seen I went back to the doctor to report and he asked whether the discharge comes and I answered :no It s a few days away from my menses and I can detect this scent. What could be the problem and how do I solve it.thanks.

Hello,

Smelly vaginal discharge post-delivery may be a sign of infection. When Lochia gets infected (with chlamydia/ etc) it may give a bad odor.

You are suggested to get clinically assessed by a gynae to ensure your uterus is well contracted & not swollen or infected.

You may need antibiotics like Azithromycin or any other antibiotic depending on the severity of the infection.

Stay properly hydrated, take care of your hygiene, wear cotton clothes & regular showers.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
