General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The redness of the skin is likely due to inflammation. Presence of underlying infection should also be considered.
-Try soaking feet for 10 minutes in warm water bath containing baking soda and vinegar, twice daily.
-Apply Mupirocin ointment and gauze dressing twice daily to affected area
-Avoid tight-fitting shoes. Use a slipper if possible.
-Follow up with her primary provider to confirm/rule out infection and discuss the need for antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal,
