How Can Severe Anxiety Be Treated?

My question concerns my 19-year old son who is a sophomore in college. During a recent conversation when I asked him how he was doing, he said he was fine and really enjoying his new job. But then when I asked him what else was going on, if he was happy that school would soon be starting, he replied, Yes, I m loving my new position and I m really looking forward to this fall, but I ve been having anxiety attacks. When I asked about what (I had no clue he was feeling this way), his reply was About everything. Any suggestions?

Psychiatrist Dr. Pavan Kumar Kadiyala's  Response
Hi
Your son may be having generalised anxiety disorder, a minor psychiatric disorder where the person feels free floating anxiety to almost every day to day things. He needs psychotherapies like cognitive behavior therapy.. or/and anxiolytic medications. Since these are prescription drugs, need to contact a specialist
Wish your son recovery soon
