Hi I recently get anxiety attacks an sometimes even worse a full blown panic attack were I feel my heart pounding an hands shaking . An today I ve had chest pains of an on so I took a .25 Xanax an then I needed more so I took a .25 again it took some time but chest pain subsided. I got chest pain yesterday after eating lots of hot sauce which I know is loaded with sodium.ive been feeling really weak lately , tired an just blah so I ve been taking liquid iron 18mg an vitamin d 4,000 a day thinking one of these or both is the reason for anxiety an heart palpitations. I have no insurance so I m pretty screwed an trying to fix this on my own.also have been losing tons of hair so that s why I think I might me anemic an low vitamin d levels ! 38 year old female . Also I m cutting my alcohol use down to 1 day a week

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear patient,
From what you describe me, you happen to be anemic, to suffer from gastritis and anxiety.
First of all, I would say that the cause of all your problems is stress and problems in your life causing anxiety. You reall need to talk with a friend, layman, or best of all a counselor!
Anxiety increases the level of acid in your stomach, thus causing the gastritis/ulcer and this in turn affects the iron absorption and causes anemia.
Xanax .25 is the minimal dose. I would recommend you to take a walk in the evening, read some book, drink camomille tea and take a shower before sleeping. This will help with anxiety, but you still need to see and talk with someone about this.
Wish you good health,
Manoku Eni M.D.
