How Can Recurrent C. Difficile Infection Be Treated?
i am being treated for a second recurrence of c. diff with vancomycin again. The first time was with flagyl and the second time was vancomycin. With the last round of vancomycin and during most of my treatment with flagyl, along with my feces was a yellowish residue, which I assumed was the c. diff. It never really went away and the diarrhea came back soon after I completed the antibiotic. Am I correct that this is a sign that c. diff is still present? My doctor said with my current round of vancomycin, she wants to pulse the dose after the 14 days is complete. Is that a good idea?

If the bacterium is present or not in stool can only be know by a stool microscopy and culture so you can get that done. A pulse dose sounds like a good idea because difficile is a very resistant and recurrent bacteria.
