How Can Pain, Numbness And Tingling Sensation In The Hands Be Treated?

I have been getting pain, numbness, & tingling in my Right hand & arm for years, & occasionally in my Left. It used to be occasional & of various degrees. Usually I could shake it off after a few minutes. Nobody has been able to tell me what was causing it. I do have a partial disability in my neck & Right shoulder, & carpal tunnel in both wrists. I was told that that was not causing the problem. But lately it has been getting very frequent & a lot more painful. It is very hard to make it go away & keeps waking me up all night! I recently had an MRI & was told my neck is all messed up. My C1 through C7 are all bulging & pinching the nerves. In also have arthritis in my neck. I also get really bad Migraines. Can this be causing the hand & arm problem? What can I do to stop the problem or treat it when it occurs?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Yes, the changes to the cervical spine could definitely cause the abnormal sensations and pain in the upper limb.

Changes to the spine can cause compression/pinching of the nerves which causes the symptoms that you are experiencing.
There are medications that can help with these symptoms such as gabapentin, lyrica or tegretol

In some persons physiotherapy is also effective.

I hope this helps
