How Can Major Depressive Disorder In A 63-year-old Be Treated?
My husband has mjor depression disorder. he is 63. He has had bouts of this but this time it won t go away. It has been six months. He has had three psychiatrists, therapists, ect treatments and nothing helps. He just wants to sleep and won t get a job. Any thoughts?
Hi and thanks for question. mainly severe depression will treat with medication if suicidal thought not present, if it present than we will go for ect first than stable with medication. u write that took treatment from three psychiatrist but not improve so i will advise for thyroid function test first if it negative than start with one antidepressant like desvenlafaxine if not improved in 20 days than add mood stabiliser. thanks
