How Can Lower Abdominal Cramps And Constipation Be Treated?

Hi. I have an appointment for endoscopy and colonoscopy in October and am on a cancellation list but my symptoms are getting worse rapidly. I've been having left lower side cramps, long bouts of constipation ( every few months lasting for 5-10 day and only releaved by laxatives, once I've emptied my bowl things get a little more regular for a bitqbit), and pain/pressure in my colon and rectum (no blood in stool). I've now had nausea for 2 months off and on, but it has been constant for the past 3 weeks. No vomiting and I haven't been constipated for the 3 weeks. Im beginning to notice weight loss as well as my appetite is basically non existent. I also have pain in my lower back. I can't get ahold of my gastro doctor and his assistant has been pretty much useless. I'm just looking for some advice on if I should try and go to emergency to speed the process or any other recommendations. I have a fairly demanding job and it's starting to impede my work ability. Feeling very stuck and looking for any option to try and figure out sooner what is going on. Any advice would be really appreciated.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* As far as my clinical experience is concerned, if the colonoscopy is on a cancellation list, there is best method to get a prescription of CT scan of the abdomen & pelvis with your doc on the priority basis which will serve at its best at this juncture. Do give me further chance to assist in future.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
