How Can Low Potassium Levels Be Treated?

My wife has gone to the hospital several times and the problem they find is a low potassium level of about 2.5. They give her oral potassium drink and IV potassium. She is currently taking 3 potassium CIT 1080MG (TOMEQ) tablets. She is feeling the same effects as having low potassium again tonight. Is this the best medication to be taking and would it be safe to take anouther tablet?

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You should know our heart is very sensitive to potassium. So any minor change beyond the value may be troublesome.
My opinion is you should not increase the dose of drug by your own. We should increase the dose if needed under proper cardiac and serum potassium monitor.
I suggest you to visit your physician again and discuss your problem and get the proper treatment.
